Academic Regalia

Academic regalia is required to participate in the commencement ceremony and can be purchased in-person or online from the University bookstore. We recommend that you purchase your regalia no later than Thursday, May 1 to ensure that you receive it in time.

Students must have a gown, hood, and cap/tassel or tam/tassel for the ceremony. Stoles and keepsake tassels are available for purchase but are not required.

What kind of regalia should I order?

• • Master’s in Professional Studies:
    • • The hood is peacock blue.
      • The full set includes a gown, hood, tassel, and cap

• • Master of Arts in Liberal Studies:
    • • The hood has a white velvet trim on the edges of a black hood.
      • The full set includes a gown, hood, tassel, and cap.

• • Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies:
    • • The hood has a white velvet trim on the edges and is a shorter version of the master’s hood.
      • The full set includes a gown, hood, tassel, and cap.

• • Doctor of Liberal Studies
    • • The hood has a wide band of white velvet on a black hood.
      • The doctoral gown has horizontal black velvet stripes on the sleeves.
      • The full set includes a gown, hood, tassel and cap.
